Most of the electronic databases and online services to which the Library subscribes are accessible in both the Library and at home.

A. Library Databases

To cope with users’ information needs and to keep the library collection up-to-date followed by the rapid expansion of publications in every discipline worldwide, the Library establishes an e-collection that can be searched via Discover@ShueYan, the Library searching platform, or databases. Currently, over 2 million e-books and 60 thousand e-journal titles are available.

B. HKSYUtube

Since 2006, the Library has provided recorded local TV programs from three free TV broadcast companies (ATV, RTHK, TVB, and ViuTV). Programs are mainly subjected to news and public affairs. For effective preservation and easier access for Library users for academic and research use, all licensed episodes produced are converted into online streaming videos. Users may log in to access restricted resources through HKSYUtube for online viewings. 

C. Institutional Repository

Institutional Repository is a digital service that collects, preserves and disseminates research material. It is an important knowledge management tool for capturing the intellectual vitality of scholars in the University and facilitating scholarly communication.
