Managing Citations with Tools Effectively

Tailored for novices, the EndNote Workshop focuses on maximizing the potential of EndNote 21 for academic research and assignments, promising significant time efficiency gains. Participants will gain in-depth insights into leveraging EndNote as a reference management solution, encompassing reference collection, organization, and administration across diverse academic disciplines. Moreover, attendees will learn to seamlessly generate citations and reference lists in any citation style directly within Microsoft Word.

· Overview of EndNote: Understanding the interface, features, and capabilities of EndNote to maximize its utility.

· Download and Installation Process: Step-by-step guidance on downloading EndNote software.

· Setting up Your EndNote Library: Instructions on creating and organizing your library, setting preferences, and customizing your workspace.

· Adding and Managing References: Techniques for efficiently adding references, organizing them into folders, and maintaining a well-structured database.

· Utilizing the “Cite While You Write” Feature: Learning how to seamlessly insert citations and create reference lists within your documents using the integrated citation tool in Microsoft Word.

Technology plays a pivotal role in modern learning, offering innovative tools to enhance educational experiences. The workshop on Technology in Modern Learning at HKSYU introduces the ChatGPT service, designed to assist students in brainstorming background information for assignments. Participants will explore the features of library-subscribed databases, such as the AI tools integrated into CNKI and the Research AI capabilities available on Statista. Additionally, the workshop will cover best practices for citing sources and methods to identify computer-generated text online.

Topics covered:

· HKSYU ChatGPT Service: Utilizing ChatGPT to facilitate background information brainstorming for assignments.

· Library-Subscribed Database Features: AI Tools in CNKI: Exploring AI tools embedded within CNKI for research and data analysis; Research AI on Statista: Leveraging Research AI features on Statista for comprehensive statistical analysis.” is grammatically correct.

Gallup Analytics Training – To leverage the data for your research efforts

 

This online workshop is provided by the database vendor for you to learn the basics of the library-subscribed database, Gallup Analytics.

 

Gallup Analytics is a searchable database that offers access to trend statistics aggregated from over 10 years of international public opinion data from more than 160 countries and areas, as well as over 80 years of U.S. national data and historical trends at the country, state, and U.S. city levels. Users can explore data across various demographic and socio-economic groups (including income, education, age and gender) and compare results across geographies to develop and report findings. The database also provides direct citations of Gallup’s work.

Qualtrics is a robust online survey tool used for conducting survey research, gathering feedback, or collecting data to support the needs of your department. The Qualtrics Workshop is specifically designed for beginners. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of Qualtrics and develop skills in designing, editing, distributing, and managing a survey project using Qualtrics.
