How to search news articles

This workshop is to train students how to retrieve news articles from Wisenews via various searching criteria and how to retrieve video, images, audio and text about current news as well as educational topics in AP interactives database.

Students will learn how to search and retrieve the resources from database of Ebrary. It includes:

1. Conduct a search
2. Browsing E-books
3. Highlight text and take notes
4. Creation of bookshelf

Introduction of resources on language and literature

Students will be introduced a variety of electronic and printed resources on English language and literature. Aspects include:

1. Hands-on training of NAXOS spoken word library, and Literature Online
2. Introduction of reference tools such as Oxford Online Dictionary and other Internet resources

Introduction of resources on legal information

The workshop is to train students how to search the electronic resources on that related to the subject of legal aspect. It includes:

1. Introduction of Westlaw databases
2. Citation search
3. Searching tips
4. Effectively select appropriate databases
5. Browsing documents in Westlaw databases

Introduction of Chinese resources

This workshop is to train students how to search the electronic resources on Chinese literature, history and philosophy, and introduce the classification of printed Chinese materials. Aspects include:

2. Introduction of 漢達文庫

Prevention of plagiarism and dissertation format

In this workshop, students will be trained to know a brief introduction of what is plagiarism, dissertation format and referencing. Students will know the importance of original academic thesis, example of plagiarisms and how to prevent it.
