Borrowing
borrowing Library users can borrow the Library materials at the G/F Circulation Counter. To check your borrowing loan quota, loan period and renewal times, please refer to the details of your borrowing privileges.
External Reader Cards
external reader cards Many university libraries in Hong Kong provide External Reader Cards for the HKSYU staff and students such as the reader cards from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, and The University of Hong Kong, etc. The G/F Circulation Counter is available for you to borrow the reader cards. The loan period for staff and students are 14 days and 3 days respectively. For more details, please refer to our services.
Books on Hold Shelf
books on hold shelf If a book is on loan, you can reserve it through the Library's web page. Once the book is returned, it will be placed on the hold shelf and on hold for a patron to pick up at the G/F Circulation Counter. For the procedures of online reservation, please refer to our Library User Manuals. Please note that the maximum numbers of books for staff to hold are 10 items and students are 5 items.

Returns
returns All Library materials can be returned at the Circulation Counter. Our Circulation Counter service hours are: Monday to Friday 9 am - 8:45 pm; Saturday 9 am - 6:45 pm; Sunday and public holidays closed. Special opening hours will be posted on the Library's notice board at the G/F entrance.
Express Book-drop Service
express book-drop service An express book drop is available at the Circulation Counter when the Library opens. The service hours are: Monday to Friday 9 am - 7:30 pm and Saturday 9 am - 6 pm.
Detection Alarm System
detection alarm system All Library materials have been installed security strips. Please check out Library materials when you leave the Library. If you hear our security alarm on while you are leaving, please do not push the Library gate. It would be much appreciated if you can bring along with all Library materials to the Circulation Counter for checking out again.
Book-drop Service after Library Closure
dropbox service after closure Library materials can be returned to the book drop located at the Library entrance after Library closure. The service hours are: Monday to Friday 7 - 9 am and 9 - 11 pm (Saturday 7 - 9 am and 7 - 11 pm). Please note that the overdue books, non-print materials, ILL items and bound journals should not be returned to the book drop.
